Wrangler-in-Training I - Kate

Prerequisite: 16 years old and completed 10th grade. WITs must have documented horse experience.

Want to learn what being a wrangler is all about? Come spend a week learning leadership skills and how to plan a fun filled week for the kids in your charge as well as still enjoying all that camp has to offer. WITs will spend their time at the barn learning what it's like to take care of horses and horseback campers all day!

Grades/Ages: 10th grade and 16 years old

Wrangler-in-Training II - Kate

Prerequisite: Sucessfully completed WIT I, 17 years old and completed the 11th grade.

Participants in this program will attend pre-camp staff week with the resident camp staff. This will be an intense week of training which includes, but is not limited to: First Aid/CPR, Basic Water Rescue, programming, badge work, homesickness, emergency procedures, rappelling, target sports, scheduling, time management, dealing with different types of children, child abuse awareness, group dynamics, diversity, and care and maintenance of horses and horse programs. At the end of the staff week the WIT II Participants will be evaluated and will set up and internship during the season from dates below.

Must attend pre-camp June 1 - June 7 at camp Kate (no charge).

Counselor-in-Training I (CIT) - Kate

Prerequisite: 16 years old and completed 10th grade.

Prerequsites: Successfully completed CIT, 17 years old, and completed the 11th grade.

Participants in this program will attend pre-camp staff week with the resident camp staff. This will be an intense week of training which includes, but is not limited to: First Aid/CPR, Basic Water Rescue, programming, basge work, homesickness, emeergency procedures, rappeling, target spots, scheduling, time management, dealing with different types of children, child abuse awareness, group dynamics and diversity. At the end of the staff week the CIT II participants will be evaluated and will set up an internship during the season from the dates below. The first week is observation of a mentor counselor. The second week participants are given their own patriol while the mentor observes them.
